look familiar?

watching: youth in revolt. starring michael cera as michael cera and deeper-voiced michael cera.
not saying i didn't like it, it just wasn't what i expected.

jumper.
i love the all-around concept for this movie but superhero movies have no concept of pacing.
within what seemed like five minutes of the movie the main character was fighting it out with samuel l jackson.
i was like "WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN FOR THE REST OF THE MOVIE?"
and i was right, for the most part.

but oh well.

we got some nice footage of max thieriot and annasophia robb we haven't gotten in some time.

listening to:
spring awakening.

i adore this musical, however vague the lyrics may be.

john gallagher jr is incredible as moritz.

ra ra riot.
i love this band. give them a listen.

what the cuss.

i'm back from my unannounced hiatus.
(;

what i'm watching:
instead of abracadabra.
short film, oscar nominee.
i had to watch an online bootleg
but it was so worth it.
what a cute film.

fantastic mr. fox.
i love this movie.
i love the pacing, i love the score...
i love kristofferson. god i love kristofferson.
i've been replacing swear words with "cuss" for weeks now.

be kind rewind.
the beginning and ending aren't cohesive with the rest of this otherwise brilliant movie.

listening to:
la roux and prince.
specifically, "bulletproof" and "kiss".
such addictive songs!

seven.

hey small fanbase.
sorry i haven't been posting recently.

listening to:
zee avi.
she's brilliant.
she's so young too!
she started out doing youtube videos and now she has an LP.
her lyrics are so genius.
her voice has this pretty lilt in it. she sounds like a vinyl star.
and who doesn't love the ukulele?

vampire weekend.
i love their new album.
when i think of this band, i think of ivy league students, still in uniform, buried in the sand on a beach.
and possibly smoking pot.

and i was watching this today.
this man is my hero.

i got a set of ten.
collect them all.
i keep them inside my top hat... i'm so fancy.

"i think we should climb the pancake stairs."

five.

oh hello!
i got blog all over my computer.
gross.

watching:
the marvelous misadventures of flapjack.
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THAT SHOW.
flapjack figured out some strange way to sound like a senile old woman and a young boy gargling mouthwash at the same time.
kudos.

flapjack is the best cartoon ever--until now.

i saw a preview for adventure time on CN while i was enjoying my children's television binge.
everyone else who has seen the commercials is probably like "WHAT."
but i'm like "OH YEAH."

because i've been a fan of pendleton ward for a long time.
the original animated short for adventure time aired on "random! cartoons" a while back.
it was so magical.
it was like a part of me died and another more wonderful part of me sprang to life.
and i've been following him on twitter and on his blog ever since.
because he's a genius.

reading:
black by ted dekker.
it's about two separate realities.
the main character falls asleep in one reality and wakes up in another.
and verce-visa.
so he's trying to figure out which of the two dimensions is real.

it's pretty nifty.
i might do a little review of the book after i finish.

"it doesn't make you cool to hate pop culture."

four.

hey you guyyyys!
thanks to Blogger's unique automatic saving feature, i have a post to present to you today! rejoice!

listening to:
lady gaga and britney spears.
do not throw the harpoon!

i actually used to be the first to throw the harpoon. i'm a major advocate for obscure music. i may actually be a junkie. i love me some Jukebox the Ghost, Antsy Pants, Of Montreal, Jack's Mannequin, etc.

but i've been listening to the radio lately and being slightly okay with it.

because honestly, it's all art in one way or another.
like lady gaga says, it's not cool to hate pop music anymore.
and sometimes it's just about having fun.

so i've learned to embrace it.

mind you, i'm not listening to any nickelback/kings of leon/daughtry/shinedown/hinder.
that dude needs to calm down, making music for all those bands at once.

i rarely listen to rap and i never listen to country.
i don't like music that follows a basic outline (e.g. "bitches, pimps, and whores" and "i got so drunk on sour mash and married my girlfriend of two hours who also happens to be my first cousin").

but pop music can be good.

i think what i like about lady gaga and britney spears is their display of the darker, more minor-key aspect of synth-pop.

abrupt ending.
peace.
